April 15th: ArtBots

What began as a clear plastic cup full of wires, copper tape, and simple electronic components was transformed into a whirring artistic robot at this ArtBots workshop.  #LadyMaker Tenaya Hurst led mothers and daughters through the challenge of stripping wire, securing connections, and joining power sources with spinning and beeping output devices.

Once the teams figured out how to get electricity flowing through their components, the design work began. Armed with sparkles, googly eyes, markers, and an assortment of recycled materials, mothers and daughters created wiggling, beeping, drawing robots.

Best of all, at the end of the night the ArtBots went home with their creators.
